Welcome to the Dakota Ridge Farm “A Wish On Wings” Sanctuary. The Mission of the Sanctuary is to provide a place of retreat for cancer patients/survivors and their families as they journey through this part of their lives.
The stress of a cancer diagnosis and its treatment can be overwhelming. To support patients/survivors and their families, the Dakota Ridge Farm Sanctuary is setting aside some special time each week for visitors to experience quiet time, prayer, meditation, or reflection. We also offer interactions with animals and nature. The llamas and other farm animals provide many with a sense of peace and strength. Past visitors have told us they feel an enhanced sense of wellbeing when petting an animal, or just being in their presence.
We have areas for visitors to sit in the pasture with the llamas (baby llamas, too.) as well as a screened-in pavilion near the llama pastures and pond. The Sanctuary is open by appointment only on Tuesday afternoons between noon and 3pm. There is no cost to participants. People of all faiths and spiritualities are welcome.
The inspiration for this Sanctuary came from the personal experiences of Katrina & Gary Capasso, owners of Dakota Ridge Farm. Katrina’s Mom, June Petteys, lost a valiant fight with metastatic breast cancer in 2007 and Katrina’s Sister, Debi Petteys, lost her battle at the young age of 25 to Ewing’s Sarcoma.
